Turkish FM Says Progress Made in Armenia-Turkey Normalization

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan announced that significant progress has been achieved in normalizing relations between Turkey and Armenia over the past four years, speaking after a trilateral meeting with Azerbaijan and Georgia in Istanbul.

Fidan said the normalization process continues in close coordination with Azerbaijan and stressed that lasting peace in the South Caucasus would enable development of regional transport and economic infrastructure. He expressed support for ongoing peace negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, hoping a peace agreement would be signed without delay.

Fidan added that Turkey expects Azerbaijan's "legitimate concerns" to be addressed as part of the peace process. The three countries reaffirmed their commitment to regional cooperation, with Fidan emphasizing the strategic importance of deeper integration in energy and transport infrastructure to create safer logistics routes between Europe and Asia.
