Russia Offers to Host Armenia-Azerbaijan Peace Treaty Signing

Russia is prepared to serve as a venue for signing a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan, according to Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin, who spoke Thursday at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

Galuzin stated that Moscow remains committed to supporting normalization efforts between the two countries, including facilitating the unblocking of transport and economic communications and addressing humanitarian issues.

The statement underscores Russia's continued backing of trilateral agreements reached between Russian, Armenian, and Azerbaijani leaders between 2020 and 2022. Galuzin characterized the normalization process as essential for long-term stability in the South Caucasus.

Russia also highlighted the potential of the "3+3" regional cooperation platform, which includes Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Russia, Iran, and Türkiye, as a mechanism for addressing regional issues through cooperation among regional states.
