ICC suspends top prosecutor after investigating misconduct allegations
The International Criminal Court has suspended chief prosecutor Karim Khan effective immediately while investigating allegations of sexual misconduct, according to reporting from Public Radio of Armenia. The ICC's management oversight body referred the matter to the court's 125 member states, which will vote on Khan's future during a special session to be convened soon. Khan, a prominent British lawyer, has denied all allegations and called the suspension "unlawful" and "procedurally unfair." The accusations reportedly include unwanted sexual touching and abuse. Khan has been on voluntary leave since May 2025. A two-thirds majority vote would be required to uphold any finding against him, followed by a separate vote on removal from office. The oversight bureau emphasized the suspension does not prejudge the investigation's outcome.
