EU to provide €50M aid package to support Armenian economy

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen discussed economic cooperation and development initiatives during a Thursday phone call.

Von der Leyen announced the EU is preparing a support package worth more than €50 million in immediate financial assistance for Armenia, along with measures to expand export opportunities and facilitate trade for Armenian products.

The leaders emphasized strengthening economic resilience across agriculture, floriculture, and other sectors, with focus on creating opportunities for Armenian goods in European markets. They discussed implementation of agreements from the recent Armenia-EU Summit in Yerevan and noted that EU support through the Resilience and Growth Plan has contributed to business development and job creation in Armenia.

The conversation also covered infrastructure projects and regional connectivity initiatives. Both sides agreed to establish a joint Armenia-EU working group to coordinate ongoing programs and explore new cooperation areas.
