The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has appointed Remon Zakaria as head of its Yerevan Resident Office, effective September 1, 2026. Zakaria replaces George Akhalkatsi and will oversee EBRD investments and operations in Armenia while reporting to the Regional Director for the Caucasus.

An Italian national, Zakaria joined the EBRD in 2012 and has held senior roles across eastern Europe, the Caucasus, and Central Asia, directing over €600 million in green investments.
